Description

In NSW, a Certificate of Registration is required before an individual is able to be employed by a licensed Real Estate Agent and be involved in the sale and/or leasing of land up to 20 hectares. Persons holding a Certificate of Registration can only act under the supervision of an appropriately licensed real estate agent.

All applicants for a Certificate of Registration must satisfy the Commissioner for Fair Trading that he/she:

  • is at least 16 years of age
  • is a fit and proper person to hold a certificate of registration
  • has the qualifications specified

·       is not a disqualified person

Qualification requirements

In order to qualify for a Certificate of Registration, candidates must provide a Statement of Attainment showing successful completion of the following units of competency from the Property Services Training Package (CPP07). The underpinning knowledge must be based on New South Wales law. This Statement of Attainment will be issued by MRT Training – RTO 41529.

Units of Study

  • CPPDSM3019 Communicate with clients as part of agency operations.
  • CPPDSM4007A Identify legal and ethical requirements of property management to complete agency work
  • CPPDSM4008A Identify legal and ethical requirements of property sales to complete agency work
  • CPPDSM4080A Work in the real estate industry

Duration

This is a self-paced program, but it is estimated that a candidate of average ability will take between 3 – 5 days to complete the requirements for this course. Tutorial assistance is available during normal business hours by phone & email (at no additional cost).

Location

The NSW Certificate of Registration Distance Program is undertaken by you, in your own time, at the place of your choice!  Distance Education enrolments are accepted at any time, and course commencement is available as soon as you have received the materials

Other details

Course materials are issued in “soft copy” format and can usually be delivered on the same business day as the order is placed – assuming all enrolment procedures are completed (including the submission of the completed Registration Form & USI).

USI (Unique Student Identifier)

The USI (Unique Student Identifier) must be inserted on the Registration Form before any completion documentation can be issued by the RTO.

Assessment

Assessment is continuous with activities & tasks set throughout the manuals using competency-based strategies. You will be assessed as ‘competent’ or ‘not yet competent’. There will not be any additional charges if you need to re-submit an assessment activity after being assessed as ‘not yet competent’. You will receive feedback on your assessments within 2 weeks and a Statement of Attainment after achieving ‘competency’.

Licence application

Once you have successfully completed all four assessments, and you have been issued a statement of attainment, you may apply to the NSW Office of Fair Trading for a Certificate of Registration. The training company is not responsible for licensing but can offer you guidance on the application process.
